Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well
Your Groton chiropractor understands
your spine! Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office knows anatomy. Back in
chiropractic school, your chiropractor studied a lot
about anatomy of the spine and utilizes that knowledge every day. Knowing the anatomy of the
spine is continually
at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck
pain, back pain patient comes through the door!
It’s so exciting! (Are you not you glad
someone finds it exciting?)
LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL
When we were in school, we were
all guilty of learning just to pass a test. Going
to professional school, such learning is more vital
than ever since it will impact everyday work. (How much
do you remember from your school days?) An
international survey of chiropractors and anatomists described
that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy teaching
during chiropractic education was advantageous
for clinical practice, allowing better understanding,
application, and analysis of anatomical material to support
a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian study
of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic
students. The chiropractic practitioners reported
that they knew their anatomy and proved it in a test
showing their knowledge. This was compared
to the same in their chiropractic student counterparts. The
chiropractors demonstrated that they kept their
knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the hypothesis
that chiropractic practitioners may not retain
it after school. Knowledge of anatomy is used
daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand
their anatomy. (2) Your Groton chiropractor does! Just ask to find out more.
SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL
PRACTICE
Performing spinal manipulation daily utilizes knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day.
The most common reasons people said they
sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and
extremity issues (10.0%). The most common treatment they experienced
were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal
patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get a lot of attention from chiropractic patients and their
chiropractors, of course! But positive side effects of
chiropractic care materialize in the medical literature as well
like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded,
randomized trial, researchers reported on the immediate effects
of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of musculoskeletal pain
patients (ie, back pain, spine pain,
neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal
pain increased the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel
these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on spinal anatomy knowledge.
