Groton Exercise Helps Cope with Pain and Aging

October 05, 2021

"If you don't keep going, you're gonna die." How is that for a title to a paper?! Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office was even taken back a bit, but it’s true. No matter your age, your pain, your life plan, we all have to keep moving forward! This is so true for middle- to older-age Groton back and neck pain sufferers. Luckily, Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office is here to help.

ANTI-AGING EXERCISE BENEFITS

We all start considering anti-aging benefits at a certain age! One set of researchers stated that regular exercise has multi-system anti-aging effects and recommended more research to acquire knowledge of just how molecular mediators of exercise benefits function in older folks rather than just turning to pharmaceuticals. (1) Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office enthusiastically agrees! Walking is great! This a terrific message for all Groton pain sufferers!

BENEFICIAL DAILY EXERCISE STEPS

Walk each day with a goal of 7000 steps. Why? Research. 2,110 black and white men and women and their steps-per-day counts were followed. They wore an accelerometer from 2005 to 2006 and then were followed for a mean of 10.8 years. Their stats were analyzed in 2020 and 2021 to see what, if any, association was found between steps-per-day and all-mortality death risk. This study was part of the larger CARDIA (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults) study. Steps-taken-per-day were defined as “low” (less than 7000), “moderate” (7000-9999) and “high” (more than 10,000). Stepping intensity – stepping rate – played a role, too. Moderate/high step rate was linked to a decreased risk of mortality in black and white women and men in middle-age who walked 7000 steps or more a day compared with those who took less. (2) Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office witnesses how walking helps – 7000 steps or not – and urges Groton chiropractic patients to walk what they can. Any walk works!
