Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be frustrating,
but it can also affect balance and contribute to falls.
Dizziness with associated cervical spine disc degeneration can be
a problem for older folks. Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office presents
new research about chronic neck pain and its link
to dizziness as well as the role Groton chiropractic care contributes
in neck pain relief and oftentimes
related dizziness.
CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS
Patients with chronic neck pain due
to cervical degenerative disease often experience dizziness as well
as neck pain. Many already-published studies, both clinical and
basic science, detail the connection of cervical
disc degeneration and dizziness. A recent study indicated that cervicogenic general dizziness was the diagnosis
for 89% of such patients. Improper neck postures
over long time periods may contribute
when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have different
prompts for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and
weeding may trigger general dizziness, especially
in women who are older. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new
surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain explained
that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly indicated
that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness came from degenerated
cervical spine discs. The dizziness happened with only
cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy.
(2) Such degenerative disc disease
in the neck also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, specifically
inflammatory cytokines that affect mechanoreceptors like the
Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs resulting in
dizziness. The good news: a majority of patients
with cervical disc disease and associated dizziness find conservative treatment to be
effective for them. (3) Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office is the home for
conservative chiropractic care of Groton neck pain and degenerated
cervical discs.
CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR
DIZZINESS
An Australian study of chiropractic care
of neck pain patients who also had dizziness found
that chiropractic is often used by these
patients to manage their neck pain. One in five people over age 70
years suffered with neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors reported
that the neck pain and related dizziness was quite
responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Shoreline Medical Services/ Hutter Chiropractic Office utilizes
the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration
and its related Groton neck pain.
