Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found

October 28, 2026

When it comes to your child's health, you want care that is gentle, thoughtful, and built around their needs. Two studies released in September 2026 give a clearer look at why families bring kids to the chiropractor and how parents view the experience.

WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC

A research team in Australia and Canada analyzed visits from 605 young patients, ages 17 and under, cared for by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for coming in in every age group, showing that many parents think of chiropractic as one piece of keeping their children healthy and active. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors identified, and teens accounted for nearly half of all visits. It's easy to see why: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and hours of screen time all put real demands on young spines.

FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED

Another study followed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three parts of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the warmth and respect from the chiropractor and office team. On the whole, parents reported favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In short, parents felt listened to, part of the decision-making, and treated kindly, which means so much when the patient is your child.
